The 36-year-old off Australian cricket spinner lyon was ruled out of the Ashes remaining matches because of injury in his right calf. In this Ashes 2023 second test Australia won by 43 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match Ashes series.

After the injury he left the ground immediately and he did not bowl or field but he bat in Australia’s second innings, to gather 15 valuable runs.
Lyon said, “I have been extremely lucky with these injuries. I’ve been around since August 2011 and we’ve had 126 Test matches and I’ve played 122 of them. Actually this is just a little speed bump in the road. This hasn’t career-defining but I am hungrier than ever to get back out there.”
