The BWF(Badminton World Federation) banned Russian and Belarusian athletes in March last year because of Russia involved Ukraine war, and they using Belarus as a staging ground in what Russia called a “special military operation”.

The Governing body said, “Badminton World Federation (BWF) has extends its ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes not participating in international tournaments”.

“Sports should be foster peace and solidarity between all the peoples and sport should not become a political option for influence in geo-politics.”
“Whatever in this situation BWF is not convinced there is satisfactory justification to lift the suspensions on Russian and Belarussian players at this time.”
In this case Table tennis, fencing, judo and taekwondo are among the Olympic sports which have readmitted athletes from the two countries as neutral stat.
“the decision to extend the ban was taken at its council meeting asap”, BWF said in a statement.
