Canadian Open : World number seed one Iga Swiatek victory over Czech Karolina Pliskova with a 7-6(6) 6-2 in Montreal on Wednesday to reach the third round of the Canadian Open.

Swiatek found herself engaged in an early tussle against former world number one Pliskova, yet skillfully held her ground by emerging victorious in the majority of extended exchanges. She showcased a potent forehand and adept court coverage to maintain her presence in the contest.

Iga Swiatek said,
“This first match was a challenge for me and In this challenge, especially against a player like that.”
“She used her experience in the first set, but I am happy that I could close it in a tiebreak. In the second set, I was more solid because I really wanted to reset, I think about what i could do better, and I am pretty glad that I did that.”
While she serving the match, Swiatek surrendered a break to Pliskova due to her initial double fault of the set. However, the Polish player promptly retaliated by breaking back in the ensuing game, ultimately clinching the victory.
