IPL 2021 : Mumbai Indians made an announcement that the Sri Lankan player Lasith Malinga decides to get retired from the Franchise cricket. In the beginning of the month he informed his decision to the Mumbai Indians and he will not available for this year IPL season.

The 36 years old star player says that, “This was the perfect time to get retired from all franchise game and I took this decision after discussing with my family. There are certain rules to follow due to the pandemic situation while travelling. But it feels difficult for me to take part in the complete franchise cricket matches in the next year so I took the decision now”.

Malinga played 12 years for the Mumbai Indians he joined the team in the second season of the IPL. He said that, “Mumbai Indians got prepare for the IPL auction for next year, I also discussed with them before some days. They supported me very much and they will understand the situation”.
He added “I like to thank Ambani family for giving me this chance and all the members in the Mumbai Indians franchise and for this amazing 12 years I thank all the fans”.
He gave a report to Cricbuzz, “Mumbai Indians are very close like a family and they will give their full support to me in both cricket and personal life. They gave me more confidence and in field they allow me to play the game naturally”.

He also says that, “I played for years in the world best franchise and I have lot of sweet moments with the team and I am very thankful for this. I wish the best in the upcoming season for the MI family, Mrs. Nita Ambani, Coach Mehela and Akash Ambani”.
