Matthew became the specialist middle order batsman but initially he was the test wicket keeper. He captains the International cricket for the first time in 2020 December. Then he captains the Twenty20 International match when Aaron Finch was dismissed due to injury.

The Australian Left handed batsman was a colour blind and because of that he faces various difficulties in the field. He was affected by testicular cancer at the age of 16. After two rounds of Chemotherapy he was recovered from the disease. From his age 19 he used to play Aussie rules football along with cricket. In 2006 he participate the Under-19 Cricket World Cup and also he became the vice-captain of the Tassie Mariners in the TAC Cup in Aussie rules.

The left handed batsman thinks that he can’t be a successful person in football because of his low height so he took cricket as his career. He made his first class debut in the year 2007, with 83 runs and 6 catches.

Matthew was the son of former footballer Scott Wade, who played for Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League. He made his first class century in the season 2008-2009 and his massive contribution of 96 runs in the victory of Victoria gives him the man of the match award. In his IPL career he was bought by Delhi Daredevils in 2011. When the Cricket Tasmania decides to remove George Balley to make him focus on batting, the team selects Wade as the captain of Tasmania during the middle of 2008-2009 seasons.
